An Interview with Kay Chirichigno
by guest host 98ROCK's Anita Wadd

Resident Ranter Kay Chirichigno

Anita: Turning the tables today and interviewing YOU! It's great to read Kay's Korner, but some may wonder, who is Kay and how did she get such a cool job?
Kay: Kay Chirichigno is exactly who she appears to be--wife, mother, best friend, lover, writer, lady. There's no pretense from me.  You'll find me in jeans and high heels most every day of the week. I'm just another big kid with a huge sense of humor and a pen that gets away from me sometimes. The neat job of working for Groove came when I saw an unfilled niche in Tampa Bay and stemmed from my interest in other people.  My special thanks to the gang at Groove for giving me the opportunity, for your hard work and support.
Anita: Many people may not know you're an author as well. You have a novel out, "Lost Love"--what inspired the story?
Kay: I have an infinite, vivid imagination and a wordsmith's ability to fabricate fiction into a reader's book-length fantasies. My inspiration comes from the heart and is enhanced by my passionate, emotional side.
Anita: How long have you been writing?
Kay: For as long as I can remember.
Anita: Do you bring real life experiences into your novels or is it pure fantasy?
Kay: It's a combination of both.  I cannot help but bring some real life
experiences into my imaginary world where day dreams materialize from the moment a reader takes it off the page and conjures the images it evokes in their mental imagery.  That's my job, bringing desired fantasies into a reader's reality realm, providing the passionate taste of a man's lips, the linger of a woman's gentle touch, and the sensual smell of two bodies pressed together that mentally stays forever, leaving the reader in a dream state that will be remembered as authentic.
Anita: What's one fantasy you want to play out in real life?
Kay: The hottest love scene I've yet to write.  Perhaps there's more truth to that than you realize.  As a writer I do live my fantasies. That's the writing privilege.
Anita: Is there anything else you enjoy as much as writing?
Kay: Sex. Oh...um...I mean I'm a very physical person, so basically if you suggest any outdoor sport, especially if it includes water, I'm there in a bikini, barefoot with a big smile.
Anita: What do you want most right now?
Kay: My goal is to have my books in every bookstore, super market and airport in the world.
Anita: What advice do you give aspiring writers?
Kay: Don't give up. Writing is hard work.  Enjoy the journey. Mainly, I'd advise to give all when you write, holding nothing back or it will be apparent.
Anita: Many people dream of writing, but get bogged down from the daily grind of dream-chasing, how would you encourage them to write again?
Kay: I'd remind them that writing in their case may have to be a mere hobby. There's nothing wrong with it being a personal pastime.  As far as dream-chasing, I'm not sure if the dream chases the writer or if the writer chases the dream.  In my case, it's been as natural as breathing.  Writing requires that a writer take a risk in exposing his inner most being. That means the writer must be secure within and content or the written word comes across as flat.
Anita: Is it hard getting published?
Kay: There is absolutely nothing easy about becoming a published writer.  Writing is international.  Writers are not limited by their region.  Our works are translated in every language, published numerous times under different penman's and shipped to every country imaginable.  I'm lucky in that my name is different. Once you see it one time in print, you never forget it.  That and my unmistakable writing style has opened many doors for me. My work has been read in over 60 different countries.  I get reader's e-mail from all over the world.
Anita: I guess the guys wanna know if you're available?
Kay: Sorry, guys, I'm not available.  I'm deeply in love with my handsome husband.
Anita: What is the greatest thing you would sacrifice for true love?
Kay: I would sacrifice everything--food, money, clothing, my home, my business--if I did not have true love to attain it.  I guess you could say I'm a pure enchantress of romance and a devoted appreciative partner.  I believe in the power of the heart to hurt and heal. A person who gives raptured passion from the treasure chest will never be lonely and will always be worshipped.
Anita: What topic do you feel less comfortable discussing with your partner?
Kay: I'm too comfortable with who I am to be uncomfortable discussing anything open mindedly with my man, although I'm really more a thinking listener than a rambling talker.
Anita: With it being the holidays, what's the best gift you've ever given someone?
Kay: Any one who knows me will tell you I am a generous gift giver, but the most dynamite gift I've given was the donation of my long hair to Locks of Love. It is a charity that makes wigs from donated human hair for children who have lost their hair.
Anita: What is the best toy you've ever owned?
Kay:   Wave runners, because they represent the things I love the most about being outdoors and getting physical--warm sun, water, and speed.
Anita: What friend or family member is the most generous at the holidays?
Kay: Without a doubt my husband.  I lost my diamond tennis bracelet and was extremely upset about it, because it was a gift from him and therefore, it was sentimental to me.  He replaced it the very next day. He's the best.
Anita: Faith is restored in many homes over the holidays, In your life, what has been your biggest twist of fate?
Kay: That I survived numerous heart attacks at the age of 19.
Anita: If you had to give up writing today, what would you fit right in as?
Kay: Make that Kay Chirichigno, CEO, Casinos of Las Vegas, Inc., no prob.
Anita: If you could invite any three people (dead or alive) over for a New Years Eve party to help you ring in Y2K, who would they be?
Kay: Madonna: She's undeniably sexy, daring and ambitious. Bruce Willis: He's both sensual and funny, not afraid to say what he thinks and has killer manly mannerisms. Barry White: Need I say more.
