Freedom
By BJ Lindquist

The songs of yesterday are heard
through the minds of us today
chanting words of prayers gone by
or rejoicing of that day

You can hear the mournful cries of despair
the drums of dance with song
the weathered hardships of the times
in winds that carry on

Freedom is the cry of all
from slavery to wars to loss
to live the life the best one can
and to master one's own cross
