Women's Journeys - An Empowerment Place
Poetry

By Shelley B. - age 13

Her love is unending,
His heart is slowly mending,
They're an unlikely couple,
But their love is supple,
People see their love as wrong,
Instead of strong,
Alone they might not make it,
But together they can take it.

What does a smile mean?
Is it just a display of emotion that needs to be seen?
Or is it something more?
Can a smile be something a depressed person spends a lifetime waiting for?
The next time one of your smiles are seen,
Ask yourself what does a smile mean.

Will we ever be together?
Will it last forever?
Will you turn your back on me if things get bad?
Leaving me alone and sad.
Please tell me our love is real,
Tell me your heart isn't an easy steal,
I want our relationship to last,
I don't want it to be like the ones in your past,
When you ask me if I want to,
I say no but I really do,
I fear losing the one thing in my life that feels right,
Just for one passion filled night.
